Music and fine art are the external manifestations of art, while thought and spirit form its inner essence. It is therefore understandable why we frequently find remarkable connections across different art forms — profound emotional resonance, or perspectives that converge along separate routes.
Starting with this concert season, renowned painter Mr. Zhu Wei has been appointed Guest‑Invited Painter for the China NCPA Orchestra and China NCPA Chorus. Over the next three years, he will collaborate with our musicians to explore the fascinating dialogue between music and visual art.
The vibrant oil paintings in this season brochure are Zhu Wei’s creations themed Cadenza, his first body of work in this new role. In the coming three years, his inspirations will range from musicians immersed in performance and the vivid synaesthesia triggered by music, to the joy, excitement and stirring energy filling this magnificent venue. All these will translate into fluid lines and rich, varied colours on his canvases.
Moving forward, his music‑inspired paintings will be featured in our season brochures, concert programmes, merchandise, promotional videos and new recordings. Audiences may meet Zhu Wei at salon events, where he shares his painter’s perspective on music. They may also follow his creative journey blending music and fine art through our special Guest‑Invited Painter exhibition.
